While social media and other factors depict “mom bods” as trying to “hide the imperfections” that came with childbirth and motherhood but while everyone has their own perspectives of what a “mom bod” is, we don't appreciate and celebrate our postpartum bodies that once carried our kids.

Mom Bods: The Conversation Starter

After childbirth, many moms either go on diets or join fitness programs that’ll help them regain their pre-pregnancy body back after giving birth and that is completely okay. In fact, there are many health tips that you can follow in order to gain your mom bod back. It can range from going to a fitness program or going on a strict diet–and that’s okay.

Loving Your Mom Bod: Celebrating Postpartum Bodies

Society's beauty standards put women under a microscope. Even after a life-changing process like pregnancy and childbirth, they expect women to shrink back to their pre-pregnancy bodies. Social media worsens this with constant news and sensationalism over celebrity moms hitting the gym and going on various diets after giving birth, viewing “natural mom bods” as a phase you can simply skip. We rarely see moms celebrating their bodies in their natural state that once carried, nurtured, and birthed their children.

As moms, we love our postpartum bodies differently. While social media often praises moms going on "balik alindog" journeys, there is also no shame in wanting to celebrate the “natural” mom bod after pregnancy. Whatever the case, all bodies are beautiful and deserve appreciation.

There is nothing wrong with getting fit and wanting your body to return to its original shape before childbirth- it isn't bad to keep it, either! We’ve compiled a list of ways you can love and celebrate your postpartum body.

      • Consider your self-worth
      • Write and practice powerful mantras
      • Cherish and admire your own body
      • Talk to real moms instead of reading magazines or going online
      • Consider revamping your wardrobe to fit your mom bod
      • Work with your mom bod at your own pace

Harnessing Your Mom Bod: Getting Into Shape

If you’re a mom who wants to get back into shape after birth, we admire your drive and your passion. If you’re the type of mom that wants to work out to rock their own mom bod, we’ve prepared a couple of tips you might find handy when you’re ready to hit the gyms:

      • Workout first thing in the morning
      • Find a workout buddy
      • Go easy on yourself
      • Treat yourself to healthy habits
      • Don’t count your calories
      • Don’t snooze your workout alarms
      • Choose a workout program that best suits your needs

Regardless of your shape or size, you are still amazing. Be proud of yourself! You’ve come a long way from pregnancy and you should take the time to appreciate yourself more. There is no beauty standard with postpartum bodies, and the best thing that you can do for yourself after childbirth is to enjoy the journey.

Always remember: the best version of yourself is the one you love the most. Start taking care of yourself how you want to and you should be on track to loving and harnessing your mom bod.
