In the past few years, more moms have become a part of the workforce and as such, being a full-time working mother is no easy task. It may lead to feelings of stress and guilt because working moms have to divide their attention between family and work.

But it’s never impossible to find a balance between work and family. It’s possible to have an active role as a mother while fulfilling a full-time career. All you have to do is to find a balance that you can work with.

That said, here are five ways that you can balance motherhood with work.

Five Ways to Balance Work and Motherhood

Honor Your Own Decisions

Do not let negative thoughts of guilt creep inside your head. If your career is important to you then be empowered by it; on the other hand, if you’re someone who needs to work to make ends meet – do what you feel is going to be best for your family. Be firm with yourself about the decisions that you make when it comes to your career. Instead of feeling guilt and negativity about working, let it inspire you so that, in turn, you can empower and even set an example for your own children.

Lose the Guilt

For many moms, there is a certain amount of guilt that is experienced when you aren’t with your child. But it’s important that you understand that you are making a profit for their future. Moms, especially those with smaller kids, will mostly have this type of experience and that’s okay. The most important thing is that you do not dwell on the guilt and understand that better days are coming.

Set a Routine

Create a routine that works for you and your family. By setting a routine, you’ll be able to do things smoothly – especially during the morning. It’s important that you are able to manage time to avoid getting stressed for the day. Of course, you can also create a night routine that’ll help you speed things up for the next day while making sure that you are also well-rested.

Find a Trustworthy Daycare or Childcare Provider

To be able to function properly, moms need to have peace of mind at work. That said, it’s important that you leave your child with people that you can trust. Daycares aren’t too popular in the Philippines but you can always opt to find a nanny or ask a close relative to watch over your child for you while you work. Having someone look after your child while you’re working makes things easier because you know that your child is being cared for while you’re out.

Be Kind to Yourself

The key to finding the balance between work and motherhood is to be kind to yourself no matter what. Allow yourself to breathe and relax every once in a while to make sure that you’re alright and that you have a healthy mindset. Taking time to relax also helps to recharge your body and mind to make sure that you’re ready for the days to come.

Balancing a full-time career and motherhood isn’t easy. Don’t forget to cut yourself some slack every once in a while because you deserve the time to rest, recharge, and relax. As working moms, we have to make sure that both our duties at home and work are properly taken care of so as to not encounter stressful situations in the future.

Be strong, mommy! You got this!
